Michael J. Shor, MPH
Michael Shor is a 1981 graduate of the Boston University School of Public Health, the Syracuse University School of Management and the Newton Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing. He has served as an ICU nurse on staff at the former Boston City Hospital and Clinical Leader at Faulkner Hospital in Boston, MA.
With a passion for constructive and sustainable healthcare innovation, Mr. Shor has been a senior executive with the Tufts Associated Health Plans, Director of Marketing for ManagedComp and he is the former President of Healthcare First, a managed occupational health organization. He was also a principal with the Boylston Group, consulting to state and local governments, large self-insured employer groups and managed care organizations on patient-centered, cost management programs and strategies. The Medical Care Access Study, commissioned by the Workers Compensation Advisory Council within the Division of Industrial Accidents served as a catalyst for the healthcare reforms included in the 1991 workers compensation reform act. In addition, he has served as the Chair for the Cost Effectiveness Interest Group of the Collaboration for Healthcare Renewal, a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving clinical outcomes and reducing medical costs.
His professional interests focus on patient centered, evidence-based models of care and the science of integrative medicine. His publications have appeared in The Journal on Workers Compensation and The Orthopedic Clinics of North America among others.
